Trump Threatens to Strip Rosie O'Donnell’s Citizenship – Sparks Legal Outrage
By : Mahi
Trump threatens to revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship after she criticized him for flood mismanagement in Texas.
In a Truth Social post, Trump called Rosie a “threat to humanity” and suggested she should stay in Ireland, where she moved in 2024.
“She is not in the best interest of our Great Country,” Trump wrote, sparking backlash across legal and political circles.
Rosie O’Donnell, born in New York, is a natural-born citizen. Legally, Trump cannot strip her citizenship based on criticism.
The 14th Amendment protects all U.S.-born citizens. Only a judge can revoke naturalized status under strict conditions.
Trump’s post came days after Rosie blamed him for Texas flood deaths, calling his policies “horrible” and dangerous.
Legal experts warn this threat undermines free speech and sets a troubling precedent for punishing political dissent.
Critics say if a president can threaten critics' citizenship, democracy and constitutional protections are truly at risk.
