Trump Ends Secret Service Protection for Kamala Harris Amid Book Tour Plans

Donald Trump has officially revoked Secret Service protection for Kamala Harris, ending the extra security she received as a former vice president.

Harris was entitled by law to six months of security after leaving office in January, which expired in July. Biden had extended it for another year.

Trump canceled Biden’s order in a memo dated August 28, directing Secret Service to end all additional protections for Harris starting September 1.

This decision comes just weeks before Harris begins her national book tour for “107 Days,” her memoir about the 2024 campaign.

Her husband, Doug Emhoff, already lost his Secret Service detail on July 1, when the six-month period required by law officially ended.

Without protection, Harris loses not only agents but also proactive threat intelligence that shields against potential risks—worth millions privately.

California leaders like Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass slammed the move, calling it political revenge that puts Harris at risk.

Harris, the first woman and person of color to serve as Vice President, has faced security threats before—making this decision especially controversial.
