Coco Gauff survived a grueling US Open first-round battle against Ajla Tomljanovic, winning in nearly three hours at Flushing Meadows.

The 21-year-old admitted feeling “mentally exhausted” as her troublesome serve continued to create pressure throughout the match.

Gauff recently made a bold move, parting ways with her coach and hiring biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan to fix her serve.

Despite 10 double faults and being broken six times, Gauff dug deep and secured a dramatic 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 victory under the lights.

Her emotional roar after sealing the win showed how much relief and passion went into overcoming the tough opening test.

Meanwhile, world No.2 Iga Swiatek showed no signs of nerves, dominating Colombia’s Emiliana Arango 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour.

Swiatek smashed 26 winners, didn’t face a single break point, and continued her hot streak after winning the Cincinnati Open.

Elsewhere, Amanda Anisimova advanced, Danielle Collins crashed out, and Naomi Osaka impressed with a smooth straight-sets win.
